From the Eclectic Easel

I finally got my computer updated, and got imovie working again! So here is a speed drawing video of a realistic eye in pencil. Enjoy! :)

my color palette..I start with the sketch first.  At first I didn't like the base color.  But this is the size brush I used in sketchbook pro 7. I decided on a lighter color for the base color.  Again here's the size brush. (I didn't write down notes on the actual size of the brush. But the opacity is at 50%.). To make the skin looked settling, I set the shadow layers' mode to screen.  The brush size again, and still working on the shadows.  Bringing in some highlighting here. For highlighting I may use soft light as the mode.  I brought in a little of colors, using a light pink to define the cheeks. I also bring in shading for the eyes.  More detailing of the lips at this point. Still painting the shading.  Testing out some red for the cheeks..  And starting the bangs.  It's done! No, I haven't forgotten about my digital portraits. Just that I've been "practicing" them. But here's Carrie Underwood's digital portrait painting I'd just finished.

Mapping out the face..  working on the left eye..  Still shading. Shading both eyes..  eyes close up.  shading the nose.  shading the mouth..  and the face, neck and shoulders.  done =). 

Here I mapped out the face..  Began shading the left eye..  both eyes are done started shading the nose and forehead began shading the mouth continued shading..  more drawing and more drawing :).  continued in part two.. 

I start mapping out the face and where the features placement.  Here I start drawing the eyes.  After that I shade the forehead.  I continue to shading the rest of the forehead.  I continue drawing the nose here I think.  Continuing to draw..  Starting the hair here.  Continuing to draw the hair..  More drawing It's done!! :).

this took 2 hours or more to do. so much fun! :). 

I start blocking in the skin.. Blocking in the colors (I'm using a medium size brush for this.) still blocking in colors bringing in bits of detail bringing in the eye makeup, and more details.  adding the eye lashes and eyebrow :).  This isn't a tutorial, but some notes were added.
